Could a cobbler make heels 1/2" higher and/or raise the height of the external sole to create a slight platform?

I really like these heels and I do not want have to get rid of them. They're STRANGELY uncomfortable and difficult to walk in. I wonder if it's possible something can be done to make them more comfortable and balanced. I want opinions before I take them to a cobbler. Thanks.
