Psychiatrist Henry Cotton believed that operating and removing teeth & organs could fix mental illness in an era without post-operative antibiotics. His hospital had a 30-45% mortality rate. Wtf was going on with early 20th century psychiatry? How was this justified as late as the early 1900s?
