Is there a reason why the most populated cities in the Southeast in the early 1800s (Charleston, Savannah, Richmond, Norfolk) aren't big cities today, unlike the biggest cities in the North East in the early 1800s (NYC, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore)?
