In Shogun 2 Total War many Japanese infantry units are depicted using a helmet reminiscent of the British WW1 helmet in the 1860s. After digging I found they were a variant of Jingasa(?). What were these made of, how prevalent were they and why didn't Europe adopt them as Early as Japan?
