In the Middle Ages, an extensive Slavic slave trade saw Mediterranean kingdoms such as the Abbasid Caliphate, Al-Andalus, Venice, Byzantium and the Franks capturing slaves from Eastern Europe. Did the resulting "Saqaliba" population leave any lasting footprint in Western Europe or the Middle East?
