There are Breckenridges in Minnesota, Missouri, Texas, and Colorado, all named after John C. Breckinridge. The Colorado town supposedly changed the spelling to disassociate with Breckinridge after he joined the Confederate army. Why are all the others spelled with an 'I' as well?
