We know quite a bit about public entertainment in ancient Rome- gladiator fights, chariot races, etc. But what about other metropolises? If I live in Tang-era Chang'an, what sort of public entertainment is available to me? Ming-era Beijing? Abbasid-era Baghdad? Pre-Columbus Tenochtitlán?
