While Hatshepsut is one of the few attestable examples of a “female pharaoh”, the Ptolemaic Dynasty had several powerful female regents such as the famous Cleopatra Philopator, Cleopatra I, II, III, IV and V - why were there so many female regents/rulers during the Ptolemaic Era of Ancient Egypt?
