Just finished reading Jonathan Roth's "The Logistics of the Roman Army at War." I'm impressed at the sophistication of logistical systems; way more effective than in the Medical Ages. Was there another premodern civilization that had better military logistics (e.g. Chinese, or the Islamic World)?
