Almost all of the cities with the highest homicide rates in the world (46 out of the top 50) are in countries in the Western Hemisphere (Mexico, the US, Venezuela, Colombia, Honduras, etc). What factors led to such a disproportionate murder rate in the Americas? Has it always been like this?
