[UK, maybe US]: It's generally seen that old (ancestral) money is less showy - Barbour, hunting, fishing, whilst new money is 'gauche' and showy. But UK Country Houses can be overwhelmingly showy statements of wealth. What's the story behind the change of perceptions (and maybe attitudes)?
