What were Medieval Christian and Muslim rulers' and intellectuals' perceptions of/ideas about Samaritanism? Outside the Levant, did they know that the Samaritan community still existed and had a distinct culture? Did states treat or acknowledge Samaritans differently from (Rabbinic) Jewish people?
