I’ve heard the introduction of swimsuits in the early 20th century led to complaints from men, who didn’t want to cover their nipples in a one-piece. Apparently, led to it being acceptable in the West for men to be shirtless in a non-sexual way, at least at the beach. Is any part of this true?
