Josef Stalin was an ethnic Georgian during a period when Georgia sought (and briefly achieved) independence from Russia. Was his ethnicity ever a factor in how he was perceived in Moscow? More broadly, did Georgians, Lithuanians, Ukrainians, etc., face discrimination within the Soviet Union?
