Much of American infrastructure: ports, rail lines, bridges, warehouses, etc., both operational and abandoned, looks decrepit- often rusted, with peeling paint, graffiti, concrete stains, etc. Is this a new phenomenon or was there a time when our infrastructure would have looked very differently?
