Margaret of Geneva was supposed to marry Phillip II of France, but while en route she was kidnapped by Thomas Ι of Savoy, who married her instead. How was this legal? Was bride kidnapping an accepted practice at the time? Why didn't Phillip II do anything to get Margaret back?
