A 14th century communal oven in Urval. In medieval France, the feudal lord had the duty to provide and the privilege to own all large ovens within his fief. In exchange, personal ovens were generally outlawed and commoners had to pay a fee to use the seigniorial oven to bake their bread [1080x1350]
