OTD in 1973, Phil Niekro threw the only no-hitter of his career and the first in Atlanta history at home against San Diego. He walked 3 and struck out 4, getting Cito Gaston to ground out to Darrell Evans at third for the final out. The Braves cruised to a 9-0 win.

OTD in 1997, Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was imploded. The home of the Braves for three decades, "The Launching Pad" gave way to Turner Field after the completion of the Olympics in 1996. The Braves went 1,265-1,166 at AFCS in the regular season and 19-15 in the postseason.
