Jesse Owens, a Black American and the man in the middle, won four gold medals in the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, and 4 × 100 meter relay at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, all in front of and in defiance of Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Nazi Germany at that time.
