Best tank lighting for pea puffer fish? I’ve found that my puffer fish like it better with the light off- i feel like my light is too bright for them.

Do I have a male and female? When I first got them they looked identical now the one has bright blue eyes very bright green and a teal spot on each side at the tail the other one color is dull not bright and orange gold eyes could it mean the 1st is a male and the other a female?
