Christopher Mayhew was a pioneer in anti-Zionism in Britain. When he met Israeli Foreign Minister Golda Meir in 1963, Mayhew said she had a "colonial settler's mindset" eerily similar to that of British settlers in Africa. Meir related to Palestinians only as "drivers, gardeners and houseboys."
