In reading accounts of American slavery, I constantly run across instances where masters read to their slaves from the Bible, including from the Old Testament--did anybody ever suggest that this practice, particularly reading "Exodus" to slaves might be a bad idea?

When slave ships arrived to Africa, where did they go? Were there established ports with docks, quays, and the like? Or was it just a small encampment without a formal dock? Or some other set up?
