I've been told that knots only work in three dimensions, but that's never been clear to me. Does that mean you cannot use a 3-d rope to tie a knot in 4-space (which makes sense, as it can slip through itself), or even if you used a 4-d "rope", would you still not be able to make a knot in 4-space?
