If we were to fly through the Asteroid Belt beyond Mars, or the Kuiper Belt beyond Neptune, how frequently would we see orbiting objects passing by? Would it mostly be empty space, or would there be bodies spinning everywhere like the movies? Would all of the objects be illuminated by the sun?
