Can we use nukes to protect the Earth from asteroids? I know that using nuclear missile to destroy potentionaly deadly space rock (like in the movies) would be highly inefective, but what if we sent an atom bomb to detonate in a near vicinity of the asteroid to divert it's course from Earth?
