Many emojis have taken on their own meanings from memes (e.g. 🍆), often entirely unrelated to the picture (🅱️, 💯, 🗿 etc). When reading ancient languages, how do we know their pictographs didn't also have completely unrelated meanings that came from e.g. cultural memes of the time?
