On this day in 1944, the Gestapo arrests a Jewish family hiding in an Amsterdam warehouse. Among those taken is Anne Frank, age 15. Although she will later die at Bergen-Belsen, the diary she leaves behind becomes one of the most important accounts of the Holocaust ever written.
