Currently should I do an investment to change my current i5-9400f for a i5-12400f?

So I tried to run "The wolf among us" on my 1440p 170hz monitor yet it doesn't go full screen and has black borders but only goes full screen at 720p. I tried using the borderless Gaming application and it didn't do anything as it kept going back to the black borders. Anyone know the solution?
