TIL In the 1930s, British romance author Ida Cook and her sister Louise saved at least 29 Jews from the Nazis. Once Ida had to smuggle a large diamond brooch out of Germany. She simply pinned it to the front of her cheap sweater and it was assumed to be fake. They did this trick several more times.
