On this day in Texas History, August 5th, 1932: Clyde Barrow and Raymond Hamilton opened fire on Sheriff C.G. Maxwell and his deputy Eugene C. Moore. The sheriff was seriously wounded and the deputy was killed. This marked the first time Barrow was involved in the killing of a lawman.
