I'm trying to find a subversive piece of anti-Mao/ anti-CCP art that was disguised to look like it was in support of them, won national prizes, and even made it onto the back cover of China Youth magazine in 1964.

The Spanish Civil War famously featured idealistic volunteers to fill the ranks of their armies. Were some of the volunteers rather superficial in their devotion to the cause, showed up, took a bunch of pictures, wrote some letters home, and then left as soon as the opportunity arrived?

I'm going through a biography of Charles V and am confused as to why, when he first went to Spain, he and his entourage looked down on the place and its people as inferior to the Netherlands where he was born.
