[general chemistry] why Doesn't the lewis base Cl- donate electrons to the d-orbital of the lewis acid Cobalt 2+? Why [CoCl4]2- not have a electron configuration of [Ar]3d^10,4s^2,4p^3?

[general chemistry] why don't d-orbitals split themselves because of themselves without the presence of ligands? Electrons are indistinguishable. Wouldn't it be more correct that protons from a ligand split the d-orbitals rather than the lone-pairs cause d-orbital splitting energy?

[general chemistry] is the statement of Jahn-Teller Theorem why crystal field splitting happens? Are there any differences? Are they the same thing?

[general chemistry] why do the energy levels of the d-orbitals reorder in the way they do when you modify a octahedral ligand configuration already with e_g and t2g(crystal field) and move the ligands on the square plane further away and the z-axis ligands move closer to the metal and vise-versa?

[general chemistry] is the electron configuration of the metal cation or something else the reason [Cr(H2O)6]3+ is d2sp3 but [Co(H2O)6]3+ is sp3d2?
