Could a baby drown during a "water birth" if it wasn't brought to the surface quick enough? And why would that happen if it's surrounded by water in the womb its lungs were full of water to begin with anyway?

Is there really no such thing as a slow/fast metabolism? But what if someone has hypo/hyperthyroidism? How much lower/higher can their metabolic rate actually be?

We normally have 4 layers in our epidermis, but for our hands and feet, we have a 5th called the Stratum Lucidum that provides the extra thickness. How come this layer doesn't exist everywhere in our skin if the stratums below it are the same?
