In the Bible, or when referring to the Biblical narrative, the inhabitants of modern Palestine are called Philistines. In modern Arabic, they call their homeland Filasṭīn, and themselves al-Filasṭīnī. Why do we call it Palestine and them Palestinians in modern English?
