Hello! I’m a Roman and I just signed up for service in the Republican legions. I was told that upon completing my service I’d be given a plot of land. What are the logistics of this? Do I get some start up cash? Will it be a new community from the ground up?

Listening to the History of England podcast, and a point has been made that London petitioned King Stephen to become a commune. Being a market town, would this have looked at all like the Merchant Republics of Italy?

I just found out that Zenobia may be a descendant of Mark Antony and Cleopatra through Drusilla of Mauretania and her husband Sohaemus. This means that she was part Julii through Mark Antony. Was this ever remarked upon during her time? Any other fascinating connections like this in Antiquity?
