The Roman Emperor Septimius Severus (193-211) had a Punic accent when he spoke Latin as he was of partial Punic ancestry and raised in North Africa. Did any other Roman Emperors have noted accents when they spoke Latin?

As per my understanding, the majority of Medieval soldiers in England and France would have been ad hoc conscripted peasants, augmented by a small core of elite aristocrats and their retinues. How would I, a non-noble, join such a retinue as a professional?

ELI5 why are there noble ranks? Why wasn't everyone just a "lord," why were there dukes, counts, earls, barons and the like? How did this develop and did the different levels have different powers and responsibilities?

How did the Crusader states tend to view and interact with the Arab and Eastern Christians they lived around and ruled? Did they intermarry? Hire them freely? Did any Arab Christians rise to prestige in these realms?
