Polish-speaking soldiers served in the Imperial German army during World War 1. Most Poles lived in Prussia - before the formation of the Polnische Wehrmacht in 1917, would they therefore have simply been drafted into Prussian regiments, or were there other dedicated Polish-speaking formations?
