In my APUSH textbook, it says that Adlai Stevenson "had a reputation as an honest politician in a state (Illinois) where Democrats were often corrupt." What made Illinois Democrats especially corrupt around the time of the 1952 Election? How did Stevenson interacted with said corrupt Democrats?
