In "The Last Assassin", Stothard portrays Mark Anthony as a man of changing loyalties; first a friend of Ceaser, secondly the bodyguard to his assassins, and finally the former enemy of Rome who hunted Ceaser's enemies. How has Anthony's actions/image been viewed in our historiography?

The Year of the 4 and Year of the 5 Emperors in Rome were 140 years apart but followed similar patterns in who took power and how they met their end. Is this a fair comparison and was this typical of Roman culture/power struggles of the period?
