Why is Pella, the birthplace of Alexander the Great and the Capital of Ancient Macedonia, not seen as among the great ancient Greek cities (like Athens, Sparta, etc) ?

When Hitler took power in 1933 he was in his early 40s, which made him pretty young by politician standards. Other high ranking members of the Nazi Party also where around that age (Goering, Himmler, Goebells etc.) Did this fairly youthful leadership, lead to their popularity ?

Officially the Bundeswehr (German armed forces) clam that their role models are the Prussian reformers of the early 19th century and the July 20th conspirators. While its understandable why most of the Wehrmacht is off the table, why can't they honor German military heroes, of the pre Nazi period ?

Did East Germany ever have its own version of the "clean wehrmacht" myth ? Meaning a lie or oversimplification that despite being Germans their soldiers, were not war criminals or nazis, and thus they should be allowed to have an Army ?
