In the WWII simulator game, Hearts of Iron IV, the Spanish Civil War turns into a three-way war later on as the Anarchists rebel against the government. Developers said this was to represent the May Days- were these large enough to justify a rebellion?

Could the May Days between the Spanish government and anarchists be accurately described as a civil war between leftist troops within a larger civil war against the right-wing, or is this an over exaggeration of a relatively minor event?
