There's been lots of debate over whether men and women can truly be "just" platonic friends without any consideration of sex. Is there any brain imaging or general research that sheds light on how one's brain might react to different "types" of friends?

Assuming the "light speed twins" experiment could be conducted, how would the biology of either twin "know" to age differently? As an example, why would things like telomeres shorten at different rates just because the bodies involved are traveling/accelerating at different speeds?
