Why has Modern Egypt remained relatively poor and never fully exploited its tourist potential despite having a glut of World Famous treasures at its disposal? Have Egyptians or others ever expressed such misgivings in academic papers etc?

In Nazi Germany, did no one ever see the irony of the fact that Hitler, a dark haired man with 'dark' features, would've likely failed his own 'Racial Purity Test' for 'Aryan Germanic' heritage... which promoted features such as Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes, a slender nose, a strong jawline etc...
