Why was The Duke of Wellington given the title of "Prins van Waterloo" by the Dutch, rather than, say, "Duke"? Is there any significance to this royal title?

According to Piketty's "Capital" and the Planet Money podcast on the Luddites, the working class of England largely did not see their wage/living standard improve for the first two generations (roughly 1800-70) of industrialization, with all the gain going to the upper classes. How accurate is this?

How is the Black Book of Communism viewed by historians? My (Russian communist) grandfather recommended it to me, and I am wondering if it is an accurate view of the subject matter. If it is too inaccurate, what would be a better book on the subject?

A recent CMV post claims "at no point in Nazi Germany were the actions they took that exterminated Jews illegal." Is this true? What was the relationship between the Nazi party/regime and laws? How much did they work outside the official system versus change it for their agenda?

1815-1914: Why did the UK, France, and Germany industrialize faster than Austria-Hungary, Spain, and Italy? Were there any broad trends about what made a European state more of a peripheral rather than a central driver of economic growth?

What is a good book on the Quebecois "Quiet Revolution" (the almost overnight secularization and liberalization of Quebec) for an American Anglophone? I know only the bare outline of Quebec's fascinating history and would love to learn more
