A common belief about WW2 is that Germany was ill advised building the Tiger I and Tiger II heavy tanks and instead should have produced more Panthers or even just simple Panzer IVs and StuG IIIs, but how true is that? How useful or useless were the heavy German tanks really?

Did Nazi Germany's investment into it's navy pay off? Did it sink and disrupt enough, and cause a big enough diversion of Allied war efforts, to make up for the huge investment required for it? Did it tie up more Allied resources than it itself required in build and upkeep costs?

The Soviet Union employed female soldiers in a variety of combat roles during WW2. Yet as far as I know they did not employ them as normal infantry. Why is that? And why was the Soviet Union the only country in the war to employ female soldiers, when other countries were also starved for manpower?

Why did Wallachia and Moldavia unite into one, unified state of Romania? Are they both sub-cultures of a greater Romanian culture, like how Bavarians and Saxons are both sub-cultures of a greater German culture? And why is Moldavia independent again?

An article states that Medieval Ireland had no cities and no coinage. Is this true? What did the economy look like then? I find it hard to grasp what an economy without cities would look like. Besides, were all those small Irish kingdoms composed entirely of castles and villages then?
