In the Weimar Republic, was the "Black-Red-White" flag deliberately used (propaganda, party symbols, etc...) to represent the anti-republican parties and elements, and likewise the "Black-Red-Gold" flag for the republican parties and elements? It is common to say that the knightly class disappeared because of the invention of gunpowder, which made their armour useless and gave every common man the ability to be a foot soldier. But what other factors played into this?
