In this picture a Swiss migrant girl is wearing a T-Shirt in 1921 Russia. That seems out of time to me, as to my knowledge T-Shirts became popular only post-WW2. How popular were T-Shirts in the 1920s? Who would wear them (Classes? Jobs?)? Would it be considered weird to wear one during that time?

In WW1 and WW2 submarines were primarily used to hunt enemy convois with the occasional lucky strike at an enemy capital ship. In the cold war however, attack submarines primarily designed to take on enemy warships appeared. When did this concept start to arise and became feasible?

The Netherlands were supposedly a republic from roughly 1600 to 1800, yet they also still had a powerful, reigning noble class and the leader of the republic (the "Stadtholder) was in fact (almost?) always a noble prince from the house of Orange. Whats up with that?
