I've always understood that the Israeli attack in the Six-Day War was very much a justified pre-emptive attack. It appears that this may not be supported by evidence and that there was no actual threat to Israel in 1967. What do we know about the reasons for war?

So the KKK in the mid-1920s could boast having 4-5 million members. By 1930, it dropped to 30,000. What kind of people joined the KKK just to leave in a few years?

How is it that the Tulsa Race Massacre was not, at least as far as I can tell, known by most Americans (it looks like Oklahoma addressed it in the last few decades). I've seen more than one person think the event was part of an alternate timeline in Watchmen, so how did it get buried?

South Vietnam is popularly depicted as a corrupt government and that is one of the reasons they lost the war in the end. How corrupt was the government compared to other SE Asian nations of the time, and how badly did corruption undermine the US and South Vietnam in its war?

In backing a return to unrestricted submarine warfare in 1917, General Ludendorff said "We must spare the troops a second Somme." I had always thought of the Somme looming large over British memory of World War I, but did Germans also remember it as one of the great tragic battles of the war?

The mayor of San Francisco alleged the cult members known as the Death Angels could be responsible for over 70 murders. The suspects are known today to have killed 15 and wounded 8 others in their six months of activity - has any progress been made linking them to more deaths? Or was this spurious?
