It's generally accepted that the U.S. covertly supplied Israel with nuclear weapons during the Cold War. By comparison, it pressured South Korea to end its nuclear program in 1975. Why the difference in policy?

I have sometimes read that the Japanese took Hitler’s antisemitic rhetoric at face value: they didn’t persecute their own Jews because they didn’t want to antagonise a world Jewish conspiracy. Is this true? How did Germany respond?
