Very often, I see people wearing hospital scrubs in public, especially at the grocery. Am I wrong to fear that they're spreading horrifying antibiotic-resistant pathogens to everything their sputum-encrusted garments are brushing against?

When sharpening knives or straight razors with sharpening stones, the last step often amounts to "stropping" the blade against a strip of leather. Subjectively, this seems to make a genuine difference versus blades that are sharpened on stones but not stropped. But does it really, and if so, why?
